Gary Jenkins grew up in rural Missouri, the descendant of farmers, teachers, and others who loved the land and its history. His background includes a 25-year career as a police officer in Kansas City, Missouri, where he got his first professional experience behind a camera running surveillances. He attended the UMKC School of Law and is currently admitted to the Missouri Bar.
His interest in creating video documentaries began with a digital video camera, an editing program, and the desire to preserve his family’s history through the eyes of his mother, Mary Ellen Jenkins (aka Granny). He enjoyed the process so much he began to volunteer his time creating lifetime legacy videos for patients of NorthCare Hospice in Kansas City (click here to see an article about Gary in the NorthCare Hospice newsletter). Now he provides these services to families, individuals, and communities interested in documenting their histories. He has also produced video settlement brochures for the legal profession. Gary is a member of the Association of Personal Historians and the Independent Filmmakers Coalition of Kansas City (IFC). His work was recently featured in KC Counselor magazine in an article entitled "Gary Jenkins: Filmmaker with Heart." Find out more about our services or contact us now. |
